The BananaIP Way

The BananaIP Way is BananaIP’s internal knowledge, learning and development program. It has been designed to help every team member understand the firm, learn its working methods, and grow into a professional who can create meaningful value for clients.

The program is built around three stages: Induction, Initiation and Integration.

The BananaIP Way is based on a simple objective. Every team member must learn how to deliver high quality work products that help clients protect innovation, reduce risk, build business strength, and gain financial value from intellectual property.

The program also reflects BananaIP’s work culture. The firm seeks to create value for clients in a driven, friendly, and balanced work environment. It expects focus, responsibility, discipline, and quality, but also values mutual respect, openness, learning, accessibility, and teamwork.

Through this program, associates will learn how BananaIP looks at intellectual property, how the firm solves client problems, how its proprietary processes and technologies support day to day work, and how intellectual property can be converted into business value.

Induction

Induction introduces new team members to BananaIP, its philosophy, values, people, policies, communication systems, and approach to intellectual property. This stage helps associates understand what the firm stands for, how it works, and what it expects from every professional.

Induction also gives associates a basic understanding of how BananaIP looks at intellectual property. At BananaIP, intellectual property is not viewed merely as a set of legal rights. It is viewed as a business asset that can protect innovation, support growth, improve competitiveness, reduce business risk, and create commercial and financial value.

Work, Leave, and Conduct

This course introduces BananaIP Associates to the Firm's policies on working hours and attendance, leave entitlements, code of conduct and confidentiality, and performance, separation and grievance procedures, as set out in the BananaIP HR Policy (2026, Revised). Across four modules, Associates will read the relevant policy extract, review a slide summary, watch a short explanatory video, and complete a 10-question quiz for that module. Each quiz requires a 100% score to pass. Associates who do not pass on the first attempt should revisit the policy extract for that module and retake the quiz. Module 1: Working Hours, Attendance and Timesheets Module 2: Leave Policy Module 3: Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Module 4: Performance, Separation and Grievance

iPlantain - IP Management System

This course introduces iPlantain, BananaIP's IP Management System (IPMS), and how it is used across the firm's IP practice. It is built as six modules, each covering one part of the system: what IPMS is and why it matters, how it is organised, its shared modules, and the dedicated modules for patents and trademarks, followed by guidelines on dos and don'ts. Each module has a reading, a presentation summary, a short video walkthrough, and a quiz. You need every answer right to move on to the next module, and you may retake a quiz as many times as you like.

Use of AI for Work

This course sets out BananaIP's policy on using artificial intelligence at work: when you may use an AI tool, which tool to use for which task, what must never be put into one, and what has to happen before AI-assisted work leaves the firm. It is built as ten short modules, each following one section of the policy. Read the module, then take its quiz. You need every answer right to move on to the next module, and you may retake a quiz as many times as you like. The full policy document and the summary presentation are attached in the first section as background reference. Where they differ from a module reading, the module reading governs.

Initiation

Initiation introduces associates to BananaIP’s work related processes, quality protocols, working structures, review systems, and department specific practice requirements. This stage helps associates understand how work moves inside the firm and how quality is maintained at every stage.

The focus of Initiation is work readiness. Associates learn how to receive work, understand client requirements, use firm systems, follow quality protocols, apply approved formats, and contribute to client work under guidance. They also learn how AI and other technology must be used in daily work to improve speed, consistency, accuracy, and quality.

Courses for this stage are in preparation.

Integration

Integration helps team members move from learning to professional application. In this stage, associates are introduced to BananaIP’s work products, templates, protocols, problem solving methods, and approach to complex matters.

The focus of Integration is practical contribution. Team members learn how legal knowledge, business understanding, process discipline, technology, drafting ability, analysis, and judgment come together in client work. They also learn how high quality work products help clients make decisions, protect value, create value, and mitigate risk.

Integration prepares associates to work with greater independence, clarity, responsibility, and confidence. It also helps them understand how BananaIP handles complex issues while maintaining quality, client focus, and professional balance.
